Oliveira do Bairro Municipal Library
It was in October 2000 that the Municipal Library of Oliveira do Bairro came to life, within the walls of a magnificent building that utilized the historic main facade of what was once the granary of the Dukes of Lafões, acquired by the Municipality of Oliveira do Bairro in the mid-19th century to be the seat of the Town Hall until the new municipal headquarters came into operation in 1996. Since then, the Municipal Library of Oliveira do Bairro has played a fundamental role in the dissemination of culture in the municipality. It is a living and dynamic space for encountering books and reading, a public service that provides access to information and knowledge, promoting a varied range of resources and services to meet the needs of citizens in the areas of formal and informal education, information, recreation, and leisure, thus contributing to cultural dynamism and the improvement of the quality of life in the municipality. Possessing a vast documentary collection and a modern and welcoming space, which includes a multipurpose room and an exhibition hall, this cultural facility offers its visitors home loan services, a Municipal Bookstore, on-site reading/local consultation, and access to computers and the internet, in addition to bibliographic support and guidance, reprography, and book and reading promotion sessions for children and seniors, among others.
